There are a total of 13,738 places available, these are sold on a first come first served basis. These spaces are set into tiers with the lowest tier hosting 10,000 places, after this the cost per tier increases significantly but the number of spaces available drop significantly also. Once all slots are sold, there will be no more availability. If someone purchases a trier and decides to upgrade, the slot in the lower tier will become available again

You can view your own profile as a guest by going to the main menu and clicking “Public View”.

These are for people to create their own stamps of history and information; they allow you to print / engrave the code on to things and deliver the content you have created. There is a multitude of uses for these, the QR code on your social media page will deliver people to that page if scanned, the codes within the locations / journals / pets / messages will all direct people to the specific post that it was created for.

If you have exceeded your data allowance, you will not be allowed to add any further posts to the platform, you should be prompted to purchase additional space. If you do not wish to purchase any additional data, you could consider deleting some images / videos or trying to reduce the file sizes of any that have been previously uploaded.

It is a simple menu that provides access to all our life documenting features, it allows you to add/ edit / delete all of your profile content and select its privacy settings.

When you first sign up you will be prompted to provide details of your social media accounts. If you missed this stage, you can add accounts via the profile wizard or by accessing the social media page within the profile editor.

By default, all entries are set to private within Descendantry, to make an entry public go to the “Social Media” page within the profile editor, at the end of each entry there is a public view icon. If not previously made public, it will have an eye symbol with a line though to indicate it is set to private. Simply click the icon to toggle it to public view, you will see the line has removed to indicate it is now public, click the icon again to toggle it back to private.

To back up your platform on Descendantry, just locate your chosen platform within the “Social Media” tab of the “Profile Editor”. Next to it you will see the upload icon, click the icon to be prompted to upload a file. Simply select your back up file and the system will upload and connect it to your social media account. All back-up files will be held in the documents section of the site. Social media platforms have varying ways to obtain a copy of you account, some allow you to download it direct, some do not. You have to improvise by taking screenshots or utilising screen recordings. You could also compress the file(s) to save storage space within your Descendantry profile. Please see your social media platforms for ways to obtain a copy of your account.

Yes, by default all backups are set to private, If your social media link is public, the file will still be set to private within the documents section of the site. To make the back up public, you would have to toggle the privacy icon over to public.

No, although predominantly for social media they are a means to show future generations your online presence, if you have any other site that holds information about you and you wish to document it, use the “Other” tab within the social media links to add things like Wikipedia, fitness apps etc.

This is a quick response code, when scanned by a modern smart phone camera, it will link people to your Descendantry profile, landing on your social media page.

These are the people that you know, either by relation or through social interactions, they are the people that are either related or that had some form of interaction within your life.

Follows simply allow you to follow someone’s life story. They keep you notified when someone adds a public post, it will be shown via your newsfeed.

There are two ways to search for people, you can go to the main menu and click “search members” or the footer for the search members link. This will provide the search bar, simply type in the persons name you are looking for. Alternatively, you can go to the connections page within the profile editor, this too has a search bar that will allow you to search for members. You can also filter members to provide more accurate results.

After you have searched for a member, there is an option to invite someone at the bottom of the results list, add their email address to this bar and we will send an email inviting them to join Descendantry.

This is dependent on a number of factors, first of all, when adding a connection we ask if you would like to verify the connection, if you click yes, this will send them an email asking to confirm the relationship you have, if you click no, then no notification will be sent, the person would just be added to your connections list. If you clicked no but then went on to make that connection public, anyone viewing your profile will know you have added the person as a connection. If you clicked no to notify the other user and they too added you, a green tick will appear next to that connection, indicating that you have both added each other and an official mutual connection is made.

Once you have found someone you know, you simply click the connect/follow button, you will then be asked if you wish to connect or follow the user. Click the connect option and select how the person is connected to you, after this you will be provided the option of rating the relation ship you and to write about how you met. These are optional and are not made public until a 120th birthday.

These two entries allow future users to see how you personally were connected to people within your connections list. It helps to create a connections list full of history where you can write about how you met, what impact they had on your life and what you really thought of them. Following a connection is separate to having a connection, the person you are following must provide permission for you to follow them, if you wish to follow a connection, simply go to their profile and select follow.

Click the follow option and confirm you would like to send a follow request to the user. Yes, go to your connections page and look under followers, find the person you wish to block from following you. At the side of their name is a block icon, click that and confirm you would like them to stop following you.

Descendantry does not allow for messaging, we are a life documenting service designed to be safe for people of all ages. If you feel you wish to connect with a member, it may be best to visit their preferred social media platform and connect with them via that.

Verified relationships show that the relationship between two people is genuine, they are created when two people are connected.

No one can directly see your connections if you have not made them public. If you have requested for a connection to become verified, then that person will receive an email to say you have connected that person. If you add someone and that same person adds you, a verified connection symbol will appear, this will indicate to that person that you have added them.

Connection comments are not displayed, to access them you need to go to the settings of a connection and click edit, this will bring up the rating and text you previously entered.

Locate the entry you wish to edit / delete in the main journals page. Next to it you will see the edit icon, click that to be taken into the journal template. You can edit all sections here, as you did when creating the entry. When you have finished, click submit. Mood setting are there to help you and others see how you was feeling at a glance without opening the post, they also allow you and others to filter through you journal entries based on moods.

Day ratings have three purposes; you can rate the day, so you know how good or bad of a day it was based on this without opening the post. They can be used as a search filter to allow and others to search posts based on ratings. The system also counts your daily ratings and displays this as an average on both the month and year, allowing you to see immediately how things were for you during that time.

This is another filter method used for highlighting the more eventful days in life, marking a journal entry as noteworthy will provide an easy way for you and others to find the more meaningful posts.

By default, the entry will be set as private, this will be indicated by an eye with a line through it. The journals work on a drop-down system; you select the year then the month to display the entries available within that period. You can use the filter system to reduce the journals available by filtering years / mood / day rating and noteworthy entries.

Within the profile editor select the add button that says add text, it is the main box within the template. This will launch a WYSIWYG text editor where you can add rich text to compliment your post. Within this you can also tag your connections into your description by using the @ symbol.

Using the @ symbol and then the users name will create a link within your location description that allows readers to connect through to that person’s profile.

Our locations are created using google maps, in the top right corner under the address will be a link to “view larger map” clicking this will open google maps in a new window at the detailed location, to view the area in 360 mode, click the little yellow man in the bottom right corner to toggle on street view. You will see the streets turn blue where there is the ability to use this feature, either click the blue lines where you would like to view or drag and drop the little yellow person to the desired location. This will then take you in to street view mode where you can explore the area in 360 degrees. While in street view, if you are lucky enough, you will see a clock with arrows around it below the address in the top right corner. By clicking this, you can roll back the years to when the camera previously passed that location.

Here you will see a link icon next to the goal, clicking this will provide the options to search for the entry / album you wish to connect and select it, clicking submit will finalise the process, the link should now become orange to indicate it has been linked.

Looking at the personal goal page in the profile editor, you will see a dull tick icon, clicking on this will mark the goal as completed and the icon will become vibrant green to indicate it has been completed. You can do this when adding a key event or afterwards, you just need to click on the link icon to provide the options. You can link key event to journal entries / locations / albums. Simply search for the post you wish to connect with and select it. Uploading 360 videos and images is the same as uploading any other image, just select the file and to upload it to the system, providing it has the correct metadata, it will be displayed as a 360 image.

Our system will look for specific metadata to allow it to be displayed as 360, if you have edited the video or image it can sometimes wipe out this information. If your images are not showing, in 360 please look to see if the meta data is in your image / video file. If not, there are various resources on the internet to help inject the required meta data into these files.

By default, all albums are private when created. On the media page hover over the album cover and a number of options will be produced, look for the privacy icon, this is represented by an eye with a line through it (if set to private) click on that to toggle it to public. Deleting an image works in a similar way, go into the album and find the image you wish to delete. Hover over the image and select the delete icon, confirm you wish to delete the image. Personal messages are never made public, they do remain within your profile forever, but they are never made public. When you create a personal message, you receive a QR code and a password. Only by having these can someone access the message. You can add an extra layer of security to ensure only one person can view the message by linking it to one of your connections. This depends on what you wish to do with the personal message, the main goal was to provide a way for people to leave a message for loved ones should the unthinkable happen unexpectedly. You would create the message, print the document and place in a secure place, addressed to the person you wish to receive it. Somewhere where it could find its rightful owner should it be needed. There are however many uses for this feature; it can be printed on gifts / cards / jewellery creating a way of delivering a message to people at any time throughout time without the rest of the world seeing it. It is for you to decide how and when you get the code and password out to your intended audience.

All public messages by default are private, once you have created your public message, look for the privacy icon at the side of the message, it will be an eye with a line through it to indicate it is set to private. They will need to have the QR code and password, if you have just printed the document emailed, the instructions will be on that document. They would scan the QR code using their phone, after this they will be prompted for the password.
